The PSU-DOST1 Food Innovation Center recently conducted a successful 1-day seminar-workshop titled “Research Forward: Simple and Comprehensive Approach,” aimed at equipping PSU faculty researchers with practical skills in food research proposal writing. The workshop emphasized that food research goes beyond creating recipes.

Participants were guided through key topics such as research agenda review, the structure of food research, basic statistical methods, and research ethics. Dr. Wilma M. De Vera, FIC Head, kicked off the event with a warm welcome, followed by Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, VP for Research, Extension, and Gender Development, who highlighted the importance of food security research and encouraging the researchers to submit more proposals on food research as priority agenda.

The program also featured insightful lectures from Ms. Meryl Bernardino, who discussed the FIC’s projects, R&D outputs, and delved deeper on the food research structure and flow. Mr. Christian Paul G. Soriano provided valuable knowledge on statistical methods in food research. Attendees, like Ms. Irene J. Urbano, found the seminar very helpful, emphasizing on the the practical and direct-to-the point strategies shared. Participants were expected to develop at least one food research proposal during the workshop, making it a productive day of learning and hands-on application.
