Pangasinan State University (PSU), through the PSU-DOST1 Food Innovation Center located at the PSU-Bayambang Campus, participated in the 2nd SEAMEO International Conference on Food and Nutrition held on October 17-18, 2024, at the Red Top Hotel and Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The university presented three research posters and participated by two PSU-FIC research staffs Ms. Meryl A. Bernardino and Ms. Monica May B. Varilla and two faculty researchers, Ms. Irene J. Urbano of the Science and Math Department and Ms. Sunshine E. Umayam of the BTLED Dept, College of Teacher Education, PSU-Bayambang Campus. These research efforts were made possible through funding support from the National Innovation Council (NIC), under the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
The PSU DOST 1 Food Innovation Center continues to contribute to food and nutrition advancements through its innovative research and development initiatives on the disaster foods in the Ilocos Region.
The 2nd International Conference on Food and Nutrition was organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO- Regional Center for Food and Nutrition (RECFON) and was co-organized by SEARCA and Seameo Biotrop. Among the Philippine delegates were faculty, project staff and researchers from University of the Philippines- Los Baños, Bulacan Agricultural State University, Bohol State University, Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Dep-Ed Benguet and Mindanao State University.
